Newborn Photoshoot
A newborn photoshoot is a great way to capture the first few weeks of your little one's life. As many people will tell you, those first few weeks pass by so quickly, making it even more important to capture special moments to treasure.
Each session is casual and in the comfort of your own home. I tend to photograph using natural light, capturing everyday moments. Usually the sessions takes between 1-2 hours as this provides time for us to get a variety of photographs. It also allows for any unplanned breaks.
The newborn can be up to a few months old, with the first few weeks tending to be the best - as they tend to still be quite sleepy and therefore more relaxed.
What to expect
During the photoshoot I will take a variety of colour and black and white shots. Depending on the style of images you'd like, there is also access to props and outfits for the little one - tailored to a range of themes.
I tend to photograph the majority shots in your own home as this is where most people feel comfortable post birth. Your baby also has access to anything they may need. I like the shoot to be as relaxed as possible - if baby needs a feed or is upset, then we are able to take breaks and settle them.
I will bring my own lighting equipment and backdrops, so as to get a mixture of shots as needed. I will also try a few different compositions, some which may include the family together, and others with the newborn on their own. If there is a specific photo that you have seen and like the look of, then we can try and recreate it.

Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to book in a newborn photoshoot?
The majority of people prefer between 2- 4 weeks old. I have however carried out photoshoots anytime within the first 2 months, so there is no pressure to book straight away. Take time to rest and then book when you feel most comfortable.
What if my house is messy?
Being a mother of one myself, I know how difficult the first few weeks after giving birth can be. Please do not worry about tidying the house. We'll make it work no matter what.
Can I have other people in the photos apart from myself?
Of course, if you let me know in advance that would be great. I can then plan ahead, identifying the shots which will best suit your taste.
What if my baby is too upset to take photos?
We will make it work. We can always allow the child to play or have a mini break before the shoot. The shoot tends to last around 1-2 hours giving us plenty of time to capture the best shots.
